WELCOME TO OUR PARENTS PAGE

Advice to parents when working with your child at home...

This short video (click here) is from Kristin W., one of our Governance Board Members which highlights what it is like to work with students in our program.  It will give a bit of an insight for you as a parent.

Tips and Trick for new elementary school parents . . .

Here is a little list of items to help new elementary school parents get started in our CAVE program (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NaaEcMOiPXHzpZ_lwytGpnPYQ76gWOTD3V5yRbk-sK0/edit?usp=sharing).

Here is the link for our Tips & Tricks meeting that was on Thursday, August 20th, 2020  (via Zoom). https://drive.google.com/file/d/17i8h9Oa0NyCkiCqq-ktHBOg0_Wb0fYZN/view?usp=sharing

Miss Wendy has provided a few "How to" videos to help new (and some returning) families with some main questions about our program.  Check them out here by clicking on each one to find some help . . .

Our PAC hosted another Tips & Tricks meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020 at 9:00 a.m..  If you missed that meeting as well, you can view the video on this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zYSzoDEf_7sPulvwDMqRrawuUNoK-dz0/view?usp=sharing

Our PAC met again on September 20, 2021 and created another video to help new Elementary School Parents.  Click on the link https://wisconsineschoolnetwork.zoom.us/rec/share/bqrGZYt3ljIOBtqfuKAUpMcDjI52RYaqPQeHuLBuB2zl8nZmrONXCbi8mDN1pbmk.iy0Tgp1LMHu0g6A3?fbclid=IwAR0XiRo5q1nFQuSFx-mUgoY9SXvqD8CMQ7BWlYJxdssVKK6c2Fd7dhPmsNY and the passcode is: s3Gzn?40.

CAVE has a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) . . .

This group is very similar to a PTA group in that it is a way to help support our school and staff, as well as help shape our school's curriculum and governance board.  They meet every other month and you can do so via online.  We are always looking for new members with new ideas.  It is also a great way to see a how things work from other families perspective.

The next meeting is on Monday, September 13th at 8:00 a.m.. You can join by requesting a meeting link with Mr. Griffith at jgriffith@cave.cameron.k12.wi.us.

CAVE has a FACEBOOK Page . . .

If you are interested in what new is happening, sharing ideas and sharing resources you can check out our CAVE FACEBOOK page at https://www.facebook.com/CameronAcademyofVirtualEducation/  Our CAVE administration sends daily updates on CAVE happenings as well as motivational pictures and quotes.

CAVE JUNIORS and SENIORS . . .

All Junior and Seniors should take some time to look and apply for scholarships.  From my prior experience, many scholarships go un-awarded due to the fact that many students feel that they don’t have a chance.  Please trust me when I say, APPLY anyway!  If you need a letter of recommendation you can contact any of your teachers or the CAVE Administrator.

Here is a great link to find out a little more about scholarships: http://www.cameron.k12.wi.us/component/finder/search.html?q=scholarships&Itemid=101

CAVE has a Governance Board . . .

If you are interested in really having a hand in shaping our program, please consider joining the CAVE Governance Board.  They meet every other month. At these meetings, members set policy, analyze budgets and enrollment numbers as well as make decisions that shape the way we do things.

CAVE State Testing. . .

WISCONSIN STATE TESTING DATES seem to be similar to what we had this year.  ACT Testing for our Juniors is on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023.  ACT Aspire for grades 9 & 10 as well as the Wisconsin Forward testing for grades 3-8 grades will be on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023.   These tests will be proctored at Cameron High School.  Please plan ahead and please plan on arriving before 8:30 a.m. so that we can get started on time.

Here are links to help you prep for each of these particular exams:

As always, the CAVE staff will work hard to set up and proctored all of these exams according to Wisconsin DPI regulations and in the most efficient way possible.  Knowing it is very hard to please everyone, please be patient and considerate of the limited flexibility that we have with these State required tests.

CAVE has a Talent and Enrichment Program . . .

Wisconsin's DPI defines Gifted & Talented pupils as "pupils enrolled in public schools who give evidence of high performance capability in intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership or specific academic areas and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided in a regular school program in order to fully develop such capabilities (per s. 118.35(1), Wis. Stats).

Over the years, the concept of giftedness has changed to include multiple components of intelligence. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has established guidelines for developing gifted education plans that are based on three major ideas:

These guidelines, as well as ideas and input from other sources, will be at the forefront of program development as we look to the future of gifted and talented education.  For more information from the Department of Public Instruction, please visit https://dpi.wi.gov/gifted

To nominate a student, use this nomination form.  To view the CAVE Gifted & Talented Evaluation process, click here.

CAVE Parent Advisory Committee

CAVE has a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) that is designed to help make our CAVE school better.  You can join the meeting online (via Zoom) and see if you are interested in joining.  Contact Mr. Griffith if you are interested in getting sent an invite.
