Welcome to CAVE's

Middle School & High School Programs

Letter to  future CAVE Middle School and High School Students and Families:

Thank you for having interest in our Cameron Academy of Virtual Education (CAVE) program.  I would like to welcome you and tell you a little bit about our middle school and high school programs.

We have a 6th - 8th Grade Middle School Program and a 9th - 12th Grade High School Program.  In our program, students can work online, project based or a combination of the two.  Students need to create a work schedule and plan for approximately 1 hour a day per subject area.  Regular online meetings with each subject teachers are set up.  These meetings include DBA's (Discussion Based Assessments) to make sure that students are understanding the materials and to help them succeed in the course.

One of the strengths of our program is that each student will have their own Personalized Learning Plan (PLP).  Students who need help catching up or students who like to work ahead, can do so in our program.  High School credit can be earned for students who have successfully passed through our middle school curriculum.

Early College Credit Program  (dual high school and college credits) can be earned by high school students who qualify for this option.  This option is only available for students who are under good standing and have completed all but 1 credit of their core high school required credits and have been in our program for over a year.  Student are eligible to take up to 9 college credits per semester (18 total) in CAVE.

Another one of the strengths of our program is our CAVE staff.  Our staff goes above and beyond working with students  to help them succeed and to facilitate learning at the appropriate levels.  Our staff includes our 8-12 grade English Teacher, Mrs. Kari Fellabaum, our 6th & 7th grade Math and English Teacher, Mrs. Gina Holter, our 8-12 grade Math Teacher, Mr. Jon Griffith, our 6-12 grade Social Studies Teacher, Mrs. Janean Ranis, our 6-12 grade Science Teacher, Mrs. Delaney Jinkins and our 6-12 grade Phy Ed Teacher, Cori Forcey.

As we specialize in service, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding our program.  We are glad that you are reading this and we hope to talk to you soon!

Sincerely,

John Meznarich, CAVE Administrator

Middle School & High School Curricular Choices . . .

All middle school students need to take English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Phy Ed and they must do so for the entire year.  Middle school students may select an appropriate elective second semester (or for the entire year if it is a foreign language).

High School students need to earn 20.5 credits or more to graduate.  Of those, students need to earn at least 4.0 credits of English, 3.0 credits of Math, 3.0 credits of Social Studies (including 1 credit of U.S. History and 0.5 credits of Government), 3.0 credits of Science, 1.5 credits of Phy Ed, 0.5  of Health, 0.5 credits of Personal Finance and 5.0 credits or more of Electives.

Because we are limited to some types of lessons that we would like our students to be involved with, individual student can apply for a stipend (up to $300 per year) to be used for lessons (piano, karate, swimming, etc.) or gym memberships (second semester for new students or first semester for returning students).  These fees will be paid directly to the provider.   Click here for a letter you can use to get an invoice and W-9 form set up.  Please contact the C.A.V.E. office for any questions.  Click here on tips on how to be a good virtual school student.
